They’ve got the magic, for sure! Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles and now Simone Manuel. They’ve achieved more before the age of 21 than most of us will achieve–or can even imagine achieving–in our lifetime, so why are some of us so focused on their hairdo–or more specifically, the state of their edges?
They will be just fine no matter how they look. Thank God the part of the world that they will now be mingling with could care less about the state of their hair. The same people that are so shallow as to pick on their appearance while they are working harder than most of us will ever work in our lifetime, are the same people that will wonder why they didn’t look back once they made it.And now, our latest gold medalist, the first African American woman to win a gold medal for individual in swimming, Simone Manuel, will have to endure some of the same sick comments. Her hair is wet from swimming for pity’s sake! Why the heck can’t people just let one another live?!
Heck, I’m just happy the young lady HAS some edges and isn’t wearing so much weave that it has taken her edges out. And, as one of my compadres notes,”Don’t worry about their edges! Them edges are worth millions of dollars now. They will be just fine!”
