I’m just wondering…what did we really expect of a mayor in Chicago? With all the corruption that has taken place over the years on a governmental level, did we really think our mayor was above it all just because he is connected to our President?
We, as a nation don’t want to admit this, but come on, we knew our President had to have some heavy hitters behind him (and by that, I mean, people who were willing to get their hands dirty to make it happen while the president-to-be continued to smell like a rose/orchid, whatever your favorite flower-you get my drift) to go from being an obscure senator in Illinois to the big time in seemingly record time in the political world. The Republicans knew it and knew they could do nothing to stop it, although they gave it a shot. The Dems were just happy to finally occupy that coveted oval office again, no matter the cost.
Now, here we sit in Chicagoland, protesting, stopping folks from shopping, and expousing about how wrong it all is to have that young man, Laquan McDonald’s death covered up at every level where there should have been a thorough investigation and paid off ($5 Million dollars to his family, no less) for an entire year while the officer who shot him goes about his merry way…every single one of the 365 after the execution took place.
Where have you been since the years of Al Capone and the rest of the gangsters who called Chicago their home for all the years?
How do you think Chicago garnered such a “gangster city” reputation? It certainly didn’t start with the young, Black thugs hanging out on the street corners selling dime bags and shouting, “5-0!” every time the police drove by. No. Blacks never had enough power, pull, nor for that matter, relationship building skills to get the amount of guns and drugs moving through this city to earn the reputation that it now has.
Unh, unh…we like to fool ourselves and certainly, segments of our society love to do nothing better than take the easy road out and blame the little, Black hoodlums running wild, with no decorum, home training or sense of their own mortality for the mess that Chicago has become, but hold on. Not so fast.
Remember where the real power is…remember who really rules these streets. As the hoodlums call it, “5-0!” are the numbers that make them all go scampering back into the holes they crawled out of once the big foot looms near, ready to crush them like the glorified grapes they really are. Yes, these hoodlums are running from the police…and who is the REAL POLICE CHIEF? Or rather, who does the police chief report to? Hmmm? Say it with me now.
All roads lead back to our mayor. Now what?!
